What Causes Feet And Ankles Swelling?

Hi Both of my feet and ankles are very swollen, I am a size 7&1/2 had to by size 9 shoes, due to swelling, been happening just this past month. but this time they are not going down. they do not hurt unless I mash on them. ?????
I do have severe scoliosis walking is difficult ,
