What Causes Fever After Alcohol Consumption?

Hello, I was wondering why after a night of little drinking (two shots and a beer) that I am running a fever. I've never drank enough to have a hangover, and I always make sure to drink tons of water before, during, and after drinking. Is this due to the alcohol, or a virus? It might be helpful to know that I did smoke hookah for a good hour last night- could the combination of the two have something to do with my current aliment?

cannot say in your particular case. Some of the possibilities are a coincedental virus (I have one now; I didn't catch it from the computer, it too is a coincedence). Also, alcohol makes it much more likely to have acid reflux which could go down into the lung and cause an infection. Almost invariably it would also give coughing. Alcohol commonly makes one FEEL like they have a fever without the temperature actually being raised.
