What Causes Fever Along With Rashes On The Body?

A friend of mine told me she went to visit her parents in Phoenix recently. While there, she came down with a high fever. After a few days, she broke out in a bad rash. Then her skin became very sensitive and she began bruising all over her body. What could these symptoms indicate?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is highly likely an infection. Most viral infections cause fever and rash on the body. Viral infections may also cause thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) which presents with bruising. She needs to see a doctor. Generally, viral infections are self-limited and the treatment is mostly symptomatic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you,
