What Causes Fever And Indigestion Post Gall Bladder Removal?
A 75 year old man is presenting with fever/chills, indigestion and diarrhea. He has recently had his gall bladder removed and 3 procedures for removal of bile duct stones. He has been cleared by his gastroentestinologist. He had e coli after his first bile duct procedure and was treated with antibiotics. He initially presented three months ago with the same symptoms before removing gall bladder.
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, the first possibility would be viral fever, although clinical examination is the best judge, better to wait for few days if it is the viral fever then it may not need any treatment, if the febrile condition remained as it is then it has to be ruled out for bacterial fever, and for that routine blood test is needed. Other medical histories that patient has may not be related with the present history of fever, if the body temperature is more than 99 F then it can be treated with Acetaminophen orally, no need to worry about the diarrhea, it could be due to viral infection too, it may causes the dyspepsia. hope this information helps.
