What Causes Fever And Mucus In Urine?

Hello we have a 5mos old boy who as of last night had a fever of 100.5 we gave him childrens fever reduce and pain reliever and was fine afterwards. However today we found something that looks like cloudy runny mucus in his urine and in his diaper. We would like to know what does this mean.

HI...there are 2 possibilities -

1. Viral illness
2. Urinary tract infection

Viral illness - Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.

UTI - there will be other symptoms like - pain and burning sensation during voiding. Vomiting and pain abdomen.
