What Causes Fever, Dry Head, Nose And Sore Throat?

My son is 13 and has had a temp around 100 degrees for over a week. At first, dry head, nose, sore throat, but now only the fever. Doctors not sure what he has...do I need to worry? He s been out of school for a week, but we can t keep him out forever...what might he have?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

This is surely a thing to worry about as health of your son is more important than schooling. The most probable cause can be viral or bacterial upper respiratory infection. Consult a doctor immediately for clinical examination, investigations as needed and to get started with proper doses as per prescription of your doctor. He may need an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medicine with anti-pyretic effect. Bed rest and plenty of oral fluids.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon.
