What Causes Fever For A Week?

Hi Doctor, My 2yr old son is having fever from almost 10 days( it comes and goes) , but no other symptoms, he is very active even fever persist.. We visited a pedictrician, he suggested antibiotic called CEFEX for 5 days and will see if still fever persist, then will do blood checkup.. After started giving the antibiotic, he vomited what ever he eats.. Before he was fine, he was eating normaly, playing and all... We are in tension, not getting what to do!! Please suggest me what could be the cause?

Thanks for the query.
It may be due to some infection, your doctor had already prescribe an antibiotic. Antifungal, or antiviral drug may be needed depending on the cause of the infection.
Fever of 7 to 10 days without any focus or symptoms like cold, cough, loose motions , must be evaluated.
Do the blood test as advised by your treating doctor.
It may viral, malarial or enteric fever ,can be confirmed with the test.
Treatment depends on the cause of the fever.
