What Causes Fever,running Nose And Cough In A Child?

My three old had a runny nose, cough and a fever last night. I gave him motrin and the fever broke within an hour.. He went all day feeling fine and then this afternoon he has a fever again. I gave him more motrin and it again broke in an hour. Is this just a virus that has to run it's course?

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Your history suggests that he is suffering from viral infection.
Steam inhalation and local instillation of saline nasal drops will help.
Flucold syrup 2-3 times daily may give symptomatic relief.
For controlling fever paracetamol 15 mg/kg body weight 4-6 hourly along with tepid sponging will bring about prompt relief.
