What Causes Finger Numbness After A Dog Bite?

My 2 dogs were fighting over an empty food bowl, one dog pitt-bull, other dog, yellow lab and pitt-bull mix. I tried to break them up, tried to grab both by scruff of neck, but somehow my hand slipped and was bitten on my index and middle fingers. Torn up pretty bad, ended up with 26 stitches. Now my fingers are numb, ever since being bitten. Got stitches out yesterday. Is it nerve damage?

Yes its nerve damage. You have not mentioned about the rabies vaccination of your pets. if they have not completed the course of rabies vaccination than you should start with the vaccination. the nerve which supply the sensory supply of the fingers are divides on the palm. as you have been bitten on the finger both the nerves which supply the peripheral aspect of your index and middle finger is damaged which leads to numbness. You should think of nerve reconstruction. you can also try physiotherapy.
