What Causes Fishy Smell To Semen?

My boyfriend & I just had sex and there was no smell during, only when he pulled out & ejaculated did we smell a fishy smell. I have had and been treated for BV a handful of times, but it seems this time it came straight from his semen and not me. What is going on?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Fishy, rotten, or foul-smelling semen isn't normal. If the smell persists, it could be a sign of a sexually transmitted infection (STI) or other underlying condition, such as: Trichomoniasis. This bacterial infection can cause itching and burning, as well as smelly penile discharge. I suggest you to consult an urologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
