I have some flakes on my hairline right above my ear, sort of below my temples, it is on both sides but worse on the right side. It looks more like scabs than dandruff, white, when I scrape it with my fingernail it easily comes up but it is new and is concerning. It doesn t hurt or bleed but it leaves a pink fleshy looking place wherever it was removed from. What is it? How do I eliminate it completely? Thanks.
Hi. As per your case history you are having seborrheic dermatitis. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't apply hair oil for at least 2 months. 2. Apply an antifungal plus steroid lotion like candid-b once at night. 3. Use a ketoconazole shampoo on alternate days. 4. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for itching. 5. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, fluconazole and itraconazole taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
