What Causes Fluid Discharge From The Left Ear While Treating Ear Infection?

I got slapped and now suffering from a ruptured eardrum follower by ear infection. I am taking antibiotics and ear drops as suggested to me by a doctor. The incident took place on Monday. Earlier i was also having harsh pain in the ear but now there is no pain just some sorry of liquid coming out of my left ear. I just want to know that how much time will it take to heal up.

Hi, The good news here is this is the first time and also got ruptured because of slapping. The slapping causes rupture of ear drum due to sudden blow of ear there by the trauma causes ruptured ear drum with irregular edges. If you don not have any co-morbid conditions like Diabetes/ Vascular diseases the healing in the ear drum will takes place with in 48 hours because of less vasculature of ear drum and completes with in 7-10 days. the fluid comes from eardrum will be sterile initially unless we introduce infection from outside. it fill dry up once the inflammation around the torn drum subsides. So keep ear dry.
The only other condition is there should not be any cold - ventilation blockage through the nostrils. once your middle ear gets ventilated well; your ear drum closure is fast. Try not to eat cold items.
After getting confirmation of complete healing check your audiogram.
Wish you a speedy recovery.
