Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Lately I have been awakened at night by a fluttering sensation in my chest. It does not seem to be related to my heart beat, and there is no pain. It is of such a high frequency that I feel that I can almost hear it. It is a constant sensation almost like shivering from being in the cold. Also, though this may be unrelated, I have had vocal problems where my vocal cords seem not to want to vibrate. I am on Lipitor, Zestril and Ritalin.
I would like to tell you that flittering sensation can be because of heart rhythm disorder as it’s not necessary to have pain in the chest for heart disorders.
Kindly get an ECG and Echocardiography done to evaluate heart rhythm disorder to avoid any fatal episode.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bhanu Partap
