What Causes Folliculitis Leading To Large Pimples On The Scalp And The Body?

What causes folliculitis...large pimple/sores on the head and body? My husband has this problem. The doctor prescribed an antibiotic, topical solutions, shampoo, and other ointments. I read about the light that can help. He thought it was a medication he was taking that caused it but that doesn t seem to be the problem.. do you have any ideas?

Hi Thanks for the query, I understand your concern.

Folliculitis could be due to bacterial/fungal infection of hair follicles. Sebaceous glands in scalp secrete excess sebum in which bacteria/fungi proliferates.
So try keeping your hair dry.
Wash your hair every alternate day. This helps a lot.
Do not apply oil until you get rid of folliculitis.
Do not scratch your scalp as the dust would aggravate the infection.
use ketoconazole or anti-dandruff shampoos. You may have to take topical antibiotic creams to your sclap.
Consult dermatologist to get the appropriate topical and oral antibiotics with dosage.
Hope this helps
