I recently changed shampoo and although i thought i was going for a more natural one (with honey), it appears that I have bad folliculitis. I have counted 33 inflamed spots all over my scalp and they are very painful. Your advise would be much appreciated Thank you Yasmeen
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain in case if you have got inflamed spots on the scalp after using a new shampoo it seems most probably due to Contact Dermatitis which occurs due to allergic reaction due to coming in contact with an irritant and in your case shampoo seems to be the culprit..
I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can do a clinical examination and advise you to take anti allergics like Levocetrizine or Allegra.. You can be advised to massage the scalp with steroid lotion to reduce inflammation and pain.. Anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen can also be advised.. You should wash the scalp with cool water for reducing inflammation..
In case if it is due to Folliculitis antibiotic lotion and oral antibiotics can be advised with other treatments as advised..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
