What would cause food to catch in pockets or folds of skin in throat. My son is having this problem and he still has his tonsils. Could this be related to this? He is 36 yr old and recently has had swallowing test done and was put on Prilosec for acid reflux which is helping the reflux problem but still gets food caught.
Hi. Sometimes as there are repeated throat infections the crypts within the tonsils get bigger and deeper. This often leads to food particles getting stuck within these crypts. The best way to treat this is by tonsillitis. Antiseptic gargling before and after meals for 6-8 weeks may temporarily help.
