What Causes Food To Be Struck In Throat And Vomiting?

I am a 60 year old male and for the past 5 months i have been unable to eat properly. When I eat solid foods it gets stuck and i have to vomit it back up. i have lost a lot of weight and was wondering what could be the cause of this? I have been to see my doctor and they have referred me to the hospital but i have to wait 3 weeks for my appointment. Have you any idea what the cause of this could be?

Swallowing difficulties could be secondary to disorders related to pharynx and esophagus[mass, fibrosis,ulcer etc.].You will need a detailed evaluation like chest x ray, barium swallow, CT chest, esophageal manometry, upper GI endoscopy.

Your doctor might ask you to go through all these to tell you conclusively regarding your condition.
