Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm concerned about my brother. He's in his early 60's and in good physical shape as he has an active lifestyle and job. However, he has started to drag his left foot. He literally has to lift his leg up, move the leg forward, and set the leg back down. The foot hangs unnaturally down, as if the ankle or muscles are just non-existent in the foot. He says no doctors will take his health insurance. I believe he is in denial about what could be happening. My question is, what are the possible causes of this?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I am glad that you want to know the causes of got drop.
Well at the age of 60 most probably this might result cause of cerebrovascular accidents as it is common in elderly especially if there are risk factors like diabetes and hypertension.
Next probability might be muscle weakness.
My advice to u is to first get a CT brain fine to rule out cerebrovascular accident.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
