My 4 year old daughter has had 2 sets of tubes. The pediatrician recently reported that one of her tubes appears to have failed and has clotted blood around it but the ear was clear. He just said that we would monitor it. She doesn t complain about pain and there is no discharge. I just noticed that both ears have an odor to them, one more than the other. I am curious as to whether or not this is a concern and if it warrants a follow up with her ENT.
If she is not having any pain or ear discharge , then i dont think you have to be concerned and just keep her on follow up. If however she develops pain , ear discharge , decreased hearing or an ear swelling , you will need to meet your doctor for examination and further advice.
Thanks
