I have an open wound on my breast due to poor circulation from a nipple sparing mastectomy. That said, the wound looks good, and it is pink and bleeds when I am packing it. However, today I notice a slight fishy smell. Is this the beginning of an infection even though I have no fever?
I understand your concern. Any would that is healing well should be odorless. You are right in assuming that a fishy odor from your breast might indicate towards beginning of bacterial infection. You should visit your surgeon and get your wound checked. You might need antibiotics to eliminate the infection.
I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish your wound heals without complications!
