What Causes Foul Smelling Gas With Little Bowel Movement?

My son has not had a "normal" bowel movement for 3 days, instead he has had extremely foul smelling gas and an occasional, very small, watery, dark orange, very foul smelling movement. He does not seem to have a fever, but has been a little extra fussy at night before bed.
