What Causes Foul Smelling Yellow/brown Discharge From Ears?
Hi- I just noticed that my 7 year old there was a foul smell coming out of his ear. I looked at it and noticed that he had yellow/brownish puss that dried up in and was crusted up in his ear. He's not complaining about being in pain. He has tubes before.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that your son has infection in his ear and the smelly yellow discharge seems to be pus.. As he has tubes places it it is easing drainage.. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and an Otoscopic examination can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.. In case if there is infection he can be advised to take a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, Oral decongestant and nasal decongestant spray.. He should also be advised to limit water exposure to ears like swimming.. Avoid picking the ears..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
