Could someone please explain how free fluid appears in the pelvic area? I had an ultrasound where free fluid was found in the ovary along side a nodule---following that was another ordered ultrasound that suggested that the free fluid was no longer in the ovary but that it was then noted in the uterus...my Dr. suggested that the fluid would eventually be reabsorbed and or discharged. Prior to my appointments, I was experiencing excessive watery discharge and mild cramping...when I asked my Dr. as to the reason for the free fluid and how it occurred, I wasn t given a direct response.
Free fluid in pelvis may be due to many reasons like PID(pelvic inflammatory disease),during ovulation etc. Inflammation causes alteration in permeability of vessels and result in exudation of fluid. Mild amount is generally reabsorbed with control of infection. Mild amount of fluid is normally found during ovulation and this doesn't require any treatment. It is good that fluid is absorbed in your case and this is a good sign.
