What Causes Frequent And Painful Urination?

I have been having pain during urination and have to go frequently. Three days ago I had anangiogram/plasty. I also have to catheterize daily. Tonight I had a little difficulty catheterizing. Upon removal several strings of red material came through the catheter along with a few drops of blood. What is possibly going on?

Hello
As per your description I think that you are probably having Hematuria due to Urinary Tract Infection. This is the most common complication of catheterization. My advice for you would be that please visit a surgeon immediately for further evaluation and management. Please do not attempt to Catheterise yourself when you get a resistance and blood is coming out. You need to have urine test, complete haemogram and ultrasound study to get the diagnosis. Hope this information helps you. Take care and get well soon.
