Hi i have a 4 week old baby and for the last week she has had atleast 10 bowl movements aday whoch have been accompanied by brown jelly mucus, since yesterday she has started to get clingy and grizzly, her poo also smells quite abit its ranging from yellow brown to mix of yellow brown with dark brown it looks like little seeds but can also be on the runny side to, she has been passing alot of wind from the bottom end to and i have had to treat her for bad nappy rash. im worried about the mucus, smell and amount shes pooing and now she seems to be upset more than usual.
Hi Dear welcome to the HCM Frequent yellowish loose stools are quite common in normally breast fed babies. But in your case i suspect some infection also. So the stool to be tested for the culture sensitivity and also for the lactose intolerance. Stool culture will tell about the type of bug involved and also about the specific drug to be used. And according to the culture report child can be treated with relevant antibiotic with proper dose and duration.
