What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements And Mucus In Stools?

I have had mucus in my stool since saturday may 21st, I have also had an odd sensation in my abdomen since then. The stool has been changing between light brown to green and back again. There is always some mucus accompanying the stool. My bowel movements have increased from around 1 time a day to 3-4 times a day. What can be causing this?
