What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements In Gilbets Disease?
My son is nineteen diagnosed with gilbets disease, his eyes get yellow and he has a lot of lethargy, tested negative for hep c, he has white patch on his fingernail and he throws up or goes number two after every meal... he wrestled so I worry cause he learned to cut weight fast
Hi. Thanks for your query. Gilbert's disease is known to cause recurrent jaundice. But not much known to cause loose stool unless there is less bile in the intestines and more fat in the food. Since your son is going for bowel movements after each meal, this indicates that he may have IBS, the irritable bowel syndrome or there would be an inflammatory process going on in the intestines like diverticulitis, appendicitis or lymph node enlargement or so.
I would advise him the following: Get stool tests on three consecutive days. To rule out diabetes and hyperthyroidism. CT scan of the abdomen with contrast.
This will find the disease and get treated properly.
