What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements?

I pass motions about 5 times in a day, from morning to evening. TYpically just before I leave home for work, I go through about 3 times. Another one sometime before lunch. Another one in afternoon.

Is this normal? If not how can I get a hold over it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There is no generally accepted number of times a person should have bowel movements.

As a broad rule, anywhere from three times a day to three times a week is normal.

Most people have the same number of times a day and at a similar time of day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
