Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...My son is 10 years old. He has a typical problem. He cannot control his bowels whenever he feels like going for motion till he can go to bathroom. This results in passing the motion in his knickers. This happens whenever he goes to school, tuition etc. This problem is compounded also because he passes motion several times in a day. A normal person normally passes motion once or twice in a day. But my son passes many times in a day. Whenever he takes a decent meal or snacks he has to go for motion. Everyday morning after he gets up before he brushes his teeth, he goes to toilet for motion. After that he brushes his teeth and then takes milk and breakfast and gets ready for school. Before going to school and within 20 to 30 minutes of breakfast he once again goes for motion. In school he takes snacks and lunch in the afternoon. Once again within half and hour of having lunch he has to again go for motion. If any teacher stops him from going during class, he passes the motion in knickers. All his teachers know his condition and hence they leave him for going to toilet. After that he comes back at around 4PM from school to home and takes some snacks. Again before leaving for swimming/tuition at 5PM he has to again go for motion. Night he has his dinner and goes for sleep. During night he does not get up for motion. This is his daily schedule and some times he passes more than the above mentioned frequency. I have shown him to many doctors near my place. But none of them are able to give any solution. Some doctors say that his bowel muscles are week and so he cannot control his motion for long. But they are not giving any medicines for it. Some doctors did not understand the problem also. My first question is why does he pass motion so frequently and whenever he eats food. Secondly why is he not able to control his motion for some decent time till he reaches any toilet. Is it really the bowel muscle problem. I request you to provide me a solution to this.
