What Causes Frequent Deep Breaths?

My 4 year old is taking deep breaths very frequently. It is not when he is exerting himself, I almost feel like it is a nervous habit, but I still worry about it. I mentioned it to his pediatrician while I was there for a behavioral consult and she listened to his lungs, which were clear. It seems like if we bring attention to it, he does it even more oftern. Should I be concerned?

Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.

The symptoms you quote are not fitting into wheezing, but the thing is it won’t subside itself like that while exerting....actually it should get aggravated.

Keeping in mind the age and gender of the kid, I feel ruling out completely as non-organic problem is also difficult. 4 years is too young n age to act like this. I suggest you see your pediatrician and also a psychologist.

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
