What Causes Frequent Falls And Slurred Speech With Family History Of ALS?
My older sister (75) has frequent falls and sometimes her speech is slurred. I had a maternal aunt who was diagnosed with ALS in her 70 s, my mother in law was also diagnosed with ALS in her 70 s. Could it be a possibility that my sister might have early symtoms and what questions should I ask her neurologist?
The medical history of your sister is indicative for possible injuries to the brain. She should be followed by the neurologist and to run further tests to exclude : - ischemic/stroke episodes - tumors - oscillations in blood sugar/pressure
Once again, further tests (MRI, Ct-scan, EEG ) are needed together with measuring of blood pressure/sugar for final conclusions.
