What Causes Frequent Headache And Fatigue?

Respected doctor, I m turning 18 this year and just to mention, I m a diabetic type-1 since 6 years. My sugar levels were varying since a while, but then I switched to an insulin pump and the fluctuations have reduced to a large extent. I ve been masturbating since 4-5 years on a regular basis, but from the last 2 years there has been an increase in the urge to have sex and the masturbation process has increased by a large extent. (Mentioning this in case it helps in providing a solution to my problem) I ve been an engg aspirant but one of the problems I ve encountered in these 2 years is fatigue and lack of sleep (due to my messed up biological clocks) But, even after a good night s sleep, I wake up drowsy, and during the day, I also get frequent headaches due to which I m unable to focus properly and study. During the time interval 10 am to 2 pm, I get excessively very hungry, sudden hunger I should say, and I m not able to control, hence ending up eating a lot and getting further drowsy. Due to always being tired and drowsy, I m hardly able to bring any output in the day and this hits me with regret. There was a time I used to drink coffee excessively to be awake at nights to study, but even that does not work now to make me active during the day, even after setting my biological clock right. I ve been a smart student always, but due to lack of hard work and practice, I m witnessing failures which is putting my morale down. Also to mention, I ve a lot of anxiety and I get up stressed very soon. I always feel sleepy and drowsy. According to me the problem is complex, but I d be glad if you will be able to help me with a solution.

Hello,

Regarding the hunger pangs which you describe could be due to low blood sugar, so some measurements should be done and insulin doses reseen.

As for the drowsiness and headaches, it seems to me that anxiety and depression are playing a role, they are the main contributors to headaches and sleep alterations.

So if glucose levels are stabilized and issue persists then I would consider treatment for anxiety, first with psychotherapy and if not enough antidepressants may be considered.

It is also advisable to have some routine blood tests to screen for metabolic alterations and thyroid dysfunction which could also contribute to symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
