What Causes Frequent Loose Stools In A Child?

Hi my son is 6 yrs old. He has a good health. He has a problem of loose motion since last on yr. He shits more than 6 times a day. Out of 6 time atleast 4 times he is not aware that he has shit. His stool is normal. He likes to eat biscuits. After having seem a doctor, his digestion will b ok for 4 to 5 days, later the same problem continues. Doctors advise not to give him biscuits. We tried but can t stop him. Pls advise. Thank you. Shahzad husain YYYY@YYYY

Hello,

It could be a gastroenteritis possibly viral in origin. You can go for a stool routine examination to look for infection.

In severe cases, antibiotics may be required. As of now ask him to take plenty of water to prevent dehydration.
