Hi welcoe to HCM
I have gone through your query regarding frequent thirst felt by your diabetic husband . You have not mentioned his blood sugar level -FBS & PP ?What all medication he is taking . And what all is his life style ?

Excessive thirst is one of the initial symptoms of diabetes. It is also usually accompanied by temporary or prolonged dryness of the mouth.
The 3Ps of diabetes are caused by the effect of diabetes on the body. If the level of glucose in the blood becomes too high, excess glucose is removed from the blood by the kidneys and excreted via the urine (glycosuria).

This results in greater urine production and causes the patient to urinate frequently. Water held in the cells is required to replace lost blood volume, and thus causes dehydration and thirst.
Increased hunger develops if the body has difficulty getting glucose from the blood into cells. This can occur if the body has insufficient insulin or if the body cannot respond to its insulin sufficiently well.

While excessive thirst is one of those diabetes symptoms that happens, and and indication of some problem , dehyderation or else and needs to be addressed immidiately .
I suggest to visit your physician and get checked up thoroughly .

Meanwhile I suggest you to give him balanced healthy diet including more of fibers , protiens ,vitamins minerals , avoid fried , fast foods ,tea ,coffee alcohol

Take lot of water and antioxidants like ginger ,garlic ,onion veges , fruit ,Buttermilk juice of bitter gourd , lemon juice with water twice before meals ,Turmeric powder with cup of hot milk at bed time ,

Avoid constipation as you know it is cause of all ills .

Take Proper exercise ,walk ,yoga / Pranayam Deep breathing & proper rest to detoxify system .
the system & proper rest

This regimen will strengthen your immune system and give shelter from any diseases further .
So mental worry and axiety should be avoided at any cost . Take good night relaxed sleep helps further .
