What Causes Frequent Throbbing Pain In Chest, neck And Head?
I am having ongoing throbbing in my chest, neck and head. They have done test on my heart and it is fine. They have put me on a beta blocker very mild. I have a monitor for twenty four hours and it showed nothing . Now they have me on a thirty day monitor. The button for the symptom does not show throbbing and since it is continueing for long periods of time. I don t know how to really let them know how log it lasts. I went to a neurologist today and he is sending me for more blood work tomorrow and will see me in three weeks. This keeps me awake so much it is affecting me with fatigue so much. I have custody of two grandsons and I thought by going to the doctor he could figure this out so I could fix this. My cardiologist has said I have P.O.T.S he thinks. I am a very active person and do not usually stop and make a big thing out of small aches and pains. I am really frustrated that I can t get anyone to understand that this is keeping me awake most nights and during the day it is making me so tired. I have increased my water to 70 ounces of water each day, increased salt intake as requested. But the continuing sleep interruptions are hard to deal with. Any suggestions?
Hello! Thank you for you nice question! Regarding your concerns I would say that heart throbbing could be really P.O.T.S. especially if it is linked with changing for the upright position of the body. It is confirmed by Head Up Tilt Table test, but also by noticing an exaggerated heart rate increase(>30 bpm) when changing for the upright position. The problem with P.O.T.S. stay on the fact that it is frequently associated with the chronic fatigue syndrome and also with anxiety or panic disorders. So I would recommend you to consult even a psychiatrist for these concomitant findings (chronic fatigue and anxiety) as they are the mayor disabling factors in patient with P.O.T.S. Hope to have been helpful to you. Greetings from Dr. Iliri
