What Causes Frequent Urinate ?

I have had a frequent need to urinate today all day. I have probably gone about 13 times in the last 8 hours. I have had kidney stones in the past but when I had those I felt like I had to go but then couldn't. Today is different. I have not had a lot to drink today but yesterday I drank a fair bit of water. The feeling of having to urinate never seems to have gone away altogether at all today. Any idea what this could be or what I should try?

Hello and thank you for asking HCM.

I have read your symptoms and i understand your concern.

Let me explain a few things. There are a lot of reasons why someone has a frequent need to urinate. But before jumping on conclusions we need to take it step by step from the most possible ones. Usually a healthy person, has this symptom when he has an urinary tract infection, or Interstitial cystitis (inflammation of the bladder wall). But there are some natural reasons also. If you have a big amount of alcohol,or caffeine or a big amount of fluids you will have this symptom.

If you were my patient i would recommend some easy steps:
-use 1 or 2 cups of rose tea, or chamomile tea, or Peppermint-ginger-juniper berry tea. If for some reason this situation is due to an UTI these tea will help your bladder clean itself and fight the infection.
-have plenty of fluids, fresh fruit juice would be great to flush every bacteria (as we suppose) from your urinary tract.
-go to the bathroom as often as you need to – don't hold it in

Try these steps, and if you see than nothing changes, than we might need to do a urine test as a start.

Also,if you have any of these symptoms that i will write below probably you have UTI.

-burning sensation when urinating
-passing frequent, small amounts of urine
-pelvic discomfort
-a feeling of pressure in the lower abdomen

No reason at the moment to start any kind of medication. If you have any kind of pain,or burning sensation, ibuprofen would be great.

Anyway if you see any changes in your symptoms please don't hesitate to contact me.

Wishing you a good health.
