Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Frequent Urination After Taking Nyquil?
I had a small bit of allergies or a small cold recently and my mother gave me Nyquil to help out. Around the same time I started urinating on very frequently. Could the two things be connected, and if not what could be the cause of frequent urination?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Nyquil contains a combination of acetaminophen, dextromethorphan, doxylamine, and pseudoephedrine. It may cause difficulty in passing urine and even urinary retention in some people. It is unlikely to be the cause of urinating frequently. More likely that you have a urinary infection and a urine examination will show whether that is the cause or not.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Noble Zachariah
