What Causes Frequent Urination And Irregular Periods At The Age Of 50?

I am 50. My periods were getting less frequent and lighter and then stopped entirely for 5 months. They have now re-started as normal (ie in my thirties) every 28 days and much heavier then just before they stopped. I also have had some problems for a monthe with the urge to urinate frequently, like cystitis but it does not go away, just gets a little better and then returns.
