What Causes Funny Feeling In Groin Area In Children?

my 13 yr old son said that he gets a "funny feeling" in his groin when riding large roller coasters. What might cause this and should I be concerned? should I keep him off these rides? He likened the feeling to that which he feels in his stomach while on the rides.
