Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello doctor,i have giddiness as soon as i wake from bed in the early morning hours & my gait is abnormal for few seconds.my recent blood test shows abnormal bad cholestrol & remark saying beware of macrocytosis. But my hb% is normal!can you suggest any etiology?my age is 43
It seems to be orthostatic hypotension. sudden change in posture may lead to drop in blood pressure that causing you giddiness and abnormal gait.
you should check with your blood pressure and ECG (electrocardiogram) with consulting a cardiologist.also take medicine for bad cholesterol and take heart healthy foods like adding more fiber foods.
macrocytosis is a condition where red blood cells become large in size.kindly rule out with the help of a hematologist(.possibly vitamin B12 deficiency or in hypothyroidism this condition may occur).
If everything is normal, kindly follow the advise
-don't get up from bed immediately. keep doing mild movements in bed and later on change your posture. - drink more water (avoid dehydration) and - try to control stress/anxiety
Thank you
hope i answered your query.
