What Causes Green Colored Stool With Diarrhea And Back Pain?
For 3 straight days, I ve been having dark or dark green stool and alternating diarrhea and constipation. I ve also been experiencing extreme and sharp back pain and shoulder pain for months. There are also times when certain parts of my back hurt when I take deep breaths. Should I be worried? Thank you for your response!
Dark or dark green colored stool can occur in various conditions like excess unprocessed bile (which is to be digested by certain enzymes) or iron supplements or celiac disease or Protozoa infestation etc.
You need to see physician and get your stool R/M,ova and cyst examination with some routine blood works as well to rule out above causes first.
If you had a diarrhea and constipation alteratively then you should take symptomatic treatment like antispasmodics if there is stomach pain ,antiemetic if vomiting, probiotics and antacids available over the counter.
For back pain, you can take apin killers and if the pain does not subside and green stool persists then you need to seek visit to ER and consult physician for further treatment.
