What Causes Greenish Discharge In A Pregnant Woman?
Hi I am 10 weeks pregnant and I ve been to the doctor for green discharge , no itch. But a very bad smell. He recommended that I use a Douche and I did for a week but still no change instead its even more worse now and I can smell myself even with a pantyliner on. Please advise if its safe to use any of the gynaguard products and which one would suit me best. Thanks

this is trichomonas vaginalis infection with classical greenish foul smaelling discharge.symptoms seen are:- Soreness, inflammation and itching in and around the vagina. This can cause discomfort when having sex.
A change in vaginal discharge – there may be a small amount or a lot, and it may be thick or thin, or frothy and yellowish green. You may also notice a strong smell that may be unpleasant.Pain when passing urine.
this has to be treated with antibiotic else cannot be resolved. you can take tab metronidazole 100mg twice a day for 7 days.its a cat -B drug and can be used in pregnancy.Recent evidence has shown, however, that this drug is not associated with adverse effects during either pregnancy or breastfeeding.
also following precaution to be taken:-
1.You should avoid having sex while you are being treated for trichomoniasis, as you may become reinfected.
2.If you were prescribed a single dose of antibiotics, you need to avoid having sex for seven days after you have taken the medication.
3.It is very important that your current sexual partner and any other recent partners are also tested and treated. If your sexual partner is not treated, this increases the risk of reinfection.
