Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a Massage Therapist one of my clients told me she had been on a major detox using massages 3 times a week, chiropractic treatments 3 times a week plus the ionic detox footbath. client says she used an enema and her stool was a mostly grey and a bit black what do you think would cause this and does she need mediacl attention she says that a chiropractor told her she has mercury poisoning from her fillings.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your client and understood your concerns. Since there is passage of grey as well as black stool, the most probable cause I can think of is as follows: This can be alteration due to the food your client might have taken. Black stool is usually due to blood in stool from upper GI tract hence a stool test is mandatory to see for blood and occult blood in stool; if present then an upper GI Endoscopy and Colonoscopy is a must. Gray stool can be due to obstruction to the bile flow hence a CT scan of the abdomen to see for liver, gall bladder, pancreas can help further. Cancer or gall stones have to be ruled out. Once the diagnosis is made the further management will be as per the causes found and also needs further management of the problems for which our client has met you.
