What Causes Hair Loss While On Meloxicam And Losartan?
Hi, I am a 72 year old female and I take Lasartan for high blood pressure and I also take meloxicam for arthritis. My normally thick, long hair started coming out by the comb full and the texture has even changed. Could these 2 medications cause my present hair problems?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Losartan and Meloxicam doesn’t usually cause hair fall. It could be due to some other causes. Acute exacerbation of arthritis can cause hair fall and it is known as telogen effluvium. It is a self limiting condition and will resolve by it own. As of now avoid unwanted stress and anxiety and take healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Zinc containing multivitamin supplements can prevent further hair fall. If the problem persists, better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks.
