What Causes Hair Thinning And Hair Loss When Treating RA And PCOS?
Hi dr First of all my english isn t good so may be i can t explain everythings good. I suffer from severe hair loss and hair thinning. I have pcos and RA, now my RA is inactive, i only take calcium and glucosamine pills for osteopenia. About PCOS, it was diagnosed last year. The only sign was pain in right ovary and unwanted hair growth on my face. i used Diane 35 and spironolacton but nothing changed and now i have severe hair loss. It s even worse than my hairloss after giving birth. I did a blood test for my hormones , Everything seems normal in blood test. What should i do?
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. Your hair thinning doesn't seem to be related to Rheumatoid Arthritis or to its medications. PCOS is very well known to cause thinning. Unfortunately I don't know what tests you have done to give you an opinion about how to progress further. But here is a list which you should be performing: 1. Serum Prolactin Levels. 2. Leutenizing Hormone and Follicle Stimulating Hormone ratio. 3. Serum Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate levels. 4. Ultrasound abdomenopelvis All the above to be done on 2nd or 3rd day of menestrual cycle for more accurate results. 5. Fasting and post prandial blood sugar. If any of the above are not done kindly get them done and visit your Dermatologist. I am here to attend to any further queries.Thank you.
