What Causes Hair Thinning On Frontal Scalp And Facial Hair (like Hirsutism)? Hormone Tests Are Inconclusive
Hi! Im a 26years old female. I hav to ask 2 questions. 1st: I hav v.thin hair on my scalp esp.the frontal portion. It had been around my early teen age since the problem started. I did see few doctors; got all my hormal profile tested but they cudn get to ny conclusion. One of them suggested me scalp tissue biopsy which I did not considered in the first place. My family history z sort of positive kz few of my Aunts hav this issue though not as serious as I do. 2nd: I hav started facial hair growth under my chin area. It started from 1 hair & now it covers about the whole area..like Hirsutism.. *i want your opinion..Kz time & again I had been to Doctors bt got no results. Regards..
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. Both hirsutism and frontal hair thinning in your case are androgen dependent. Either increased levels of free androgen in the blood or increased sensitivity of hairs to circulating normal androgens. I don't know what are the tests that you have done, I will recommend S. Free testosterone, 17alpha hydroxy progesterone, DHEAS, Prolactin, FSH, LH , TSH, sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) on day 3 of your cycle, day 1 being the first day of bleeding.
If all these are normal your condition will fit into idiopathic hirsutism. You can consider laser hair reduction for facial hair and minoxidil 2 % solution 1 ml twice a day for thinning of frontal hair. Approach a dermatologist practicing cosmetology for the same. Hope this helped, Take care.
