What Causes Hallucinations?

The last several months I have begun having hallucinations even tho my partial complex (temporal lobe) epilepsy is under control. I ve never encountered anyone who ever had this problem and wonder if it is unusual. Most are benign happenings but a couple have been very disconcerting.
