What Causes Hard Knots In Leg After Cellulitis?

Three weeks ago, I was admitted to hospital for five days for severe cellulitis. I have since taken bactrim for ten days but it flared up again. I have had two shots of rocephin and am now taking rifampin and doxycycline. I now have three hard knots in my leg that hurt a lot. Is this normal for recovery from cellulitis?

Hi,

Cellulitis is a spreading bacterial infection underneath the skin. The skin become hot, erythematous and painful. You are on right track. Your infection is gradually recovered. The knots you described would be due to healing process. The tissues might become hard leading to tough swelling. The hardness might be reduced gradually. So, not worry at all.

I would like to advise you to comlete the course of antibiotics and antiinflammatory drugs suggested by your doctor. You may add zinc sulfate tablets once a day with vitamin C tab. You might get good response.

I hope this would be helpful to you.

Thanks.
