What Causes Hard Painful Lump On The Head?

I have a lump on the back right hand side of my head near the hairline. It is very hard to the touch and feels bonelike. It hurts to the touch, and after touching it it continues to hurt for at least 15 minutes afterwards. Sometimes it hurts without me having touched it. I went to the hospital who sent me to a dermatologist. He felt the lump and told me he wasn t sure what it was, so he gave me some antibiotics and told me to go back should it not get better. The lump is still there and painful after finishing the antibiotics, so I will be going back to the hospital as soon as I can, but it may not be for another week or so. Just wondering if you have any idea what this is?

With whatever details are given by you seem to have a chronic boil with abscess,due to which it still remains after the antibiotic treatment.
Incomplete antibiotic course or in-adequate drainage with it has caused the resistant painful lump on back of your head.
