Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 24 year old Male, I am 5 8 and 205lbs. I was sitting having a conversation and out of nowhere I felt my heart beat slow down to about half speed and beat very hard. I felt almost as if the world around me slowed down during this. The episode lasted no more than 10 seconds. This happened a few hours and I still feel like my heart is beating a little harder than normal (which I am attributing to being anxious about the initial episode). I have had issues with anxiety in the past, but this was not something I have felt before. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello and thank you for your question! Regarding your concern I would like to recommend you first of all don't worry; your complain (heart beating problem) is among the most frequent subjective feeling in human being; almost every person in the earth have experienced at least some moments of the so called small "electrical storms" of the heart. Many reasons are linked with that phenomenon; including also sever psychological situations and anxiety. But before to draw in conclusions you should perform a routine check up by your doctor (GP, internist, or cardiologist) including physical examination and some blood tests; in order to rule out any evident health problem. You look over-weighted and it should be ascertained if you have any risk factors for coronary diseases in the future; so the check up would help to decide your probability risk level for future coronary events and how to fight them. Hope to have been helpful to you. Greetings from Dr. Iliri
